Q: Do I need to purchase special hardware or software to offer live audio and video streaming through your service?

A: You need a video encoder capable of encoding and pushing in Windows Media format. Remote Counsel endorses the use of VBrick Windows Media appliances? For more information about the VBrick's Windows Media appliance click here.

Q: I own a Digital Rapids card or other Windows Media compatible encoder. Can I use it with your service?

A: Yes. If your encoder supports the Windows Media format and can "push" to a Windows Media server, you should be able to stream through our service. However, we cannot support your equipment nor gaurantee the quality of the stream when using uncertified equipment.

Q: What types of A/V inputs / outputs does the VBrick have?

A: The VBrick accepst either an RCA / composite or S-Video for video. Mono 3.5mm mini inputs for audio. Every VBrick ships with all the cables and adapters needed for a standard setup.

Q: Is there a way to tell if the VBrick is working properly without being logged into the live stream?

A: Yes. The VBrick has an LCD on the fron't that scolls the status of various components of the unit. "HTTP Push Sending" indicates the VBRick is properly connected to the network and "sending" dat to our server.

Q: What are the network bandwidth requirements for streaming video?

A: The default target bitrate for Remote Counsel a/v streams is roughly 200kbps. Note that this is a "taget" rate and may fluctuate during the stream. This rate can be manually lowered when bandwidth restrictions dictate.

Q: How much does it cost to do a live stream?

A: For live video streaming, there is a one-time setup fee, per event, and a daily connection fee for each remote participant. Please contact a representative for our current rates.

Q: Does Remote Counsel provide on-demand viewing or video archive services?

A: Yes. We have two different options for on-demand content. The first option, "Time Shifting", is where we record a live stream to our server and make it available for on-demand once the event concludes. Time shifted events are generally made available for 24-72 hours after the live stream. Time Shifting services are free of charge, but standard remote participant charges apply. We also offer personalized video repositories. Your a/v files are either uploaded or recorded during a live stream. Files in your repository are available on-demand for 12 months from the time of upload. Please contact a representative for current video repository further details and pricing.

Q: Is it possible to stream from a videoconference system?

A: Yes. We can stream from any videoconference unit. A connection is established with the videoconference system and our special equipment in our data center. The equipment then encodes the content and sends it to our Windows Media servers.

Q: I have a client thas asked for this services. How do I setup a Remote Counsel counsel stream event?
