Q: I'm a court reporter interested in offering remote real-time over the Internet. What software or device do I need to provide the service?

A: Getting setup to stream transcript through Remote Counsel's easy and free. Simply submit a request to our staff at streaming@courtroomconnect.com and we will coordinate the setup, configuration and testing. This session typically takes 10-20 minutes. Case Catalyst 4.1 or newer has our streaming technology built directly in to the software. All other CAT applications are enabled through our free CAT Shuttle software.

Q: Do my clients need any special software or licenses to access the stream?

A: No. The live stream utilizes Java technology and can be viewed directly in any Internet browser that is Java enabled. Although designed with Internet Explorer in mind, it's has been known to stream in other Java enabled browsers such as Firefox, Safari and Chrome. There is no licensing or special software to purchase.

Q: How do my client's login to the stream?

Q: Can my staff monitor the live stream without incurring connection charges?

A: Yes. We encourage all of our reporting firms to login and monitor their stream events. There is no cost for your staff to do so.

Q: How do I know how many remote participants are connected to the stream?

A: Currently the only way to find out who or how many remote participants are connected is to email or call our support staff. At your request, we will forward a detailed connection log.

Q: Can the entire transcript be viewed or saved?

A: This feature can either be enabled or disabled on the server side. By default remote participants can save the transcript to their hard drive. This feature can be disable upon request.

Q: Can the transcript be imported to other litigation support software?

A: Yes. As long as the save transcript option is enabled, participants can save it to their hard drive and then import to most any litigation support software.

Q: Will the transcript stream directly in to other vendors litigation support software?

A: At this time, we cannot stream directly in to other vendors litigation support software.

Q: Will streaming over the Internet interfere with my ability to stream to attorneys onsite?

A: No. As long as your CAT software supports multiple outputs or multiple connections you will be able to provide both Internet and local real-time output.

Q: Is the transcript still available after the reporter breaks down and the live event has concluded?

A: Yes. If the scheduled event was set to run until 6pm but concludes at 3pm, the login credentials will be valid until the event expires on the server at 6pm. If someone logs in at 4pm they will still be able to save the full transcript to their hard drive (unless this option was disabled).
